It's time to Get Real.
I have to admit that my admin of a process that easily invites itself to procrastinating - writing big stuff - has been post-poned.
But what's the opposite to post-poned? Pre-something? You tell.
Anyways, I've done something in the in-between days making itself beyond that shallow "nyårslöfte", Swedish for committing yourself to something for the New Year.
We close 2009 with a smile. Done a lot, but did not do other things.
Some hours ago, I disclosed on my personal miniblog ("tumbleblog") on Tumblr (streamed in the sidebar) -
"Sneak Preview of the Main Project for 2010!
Writing my popularly oriented book “Sustainopreneurship - Business with a Cause. Stories of Entrepreneurship and Innovation for Sustainability”. This is the main website, acting as a hub in the process, where links will be created to the two main supplementary creation platforms - the book blog using CommentPress theme on Wordpress, and the book wiki using MediaWiki.
The site is going live when the season starts January 11, 2009, with some intro content to depart from. Book to be published in full December 21, 2010."
Now you know! Happy New Year!
UPDATE: In the wake of the middle-night of the NYE, post 3am CET - I discovered what is some kind of "opposite" to Post-poned: Pre-mature! Or at least, related, in that post- vs. pre- ;). Before vs After. I've learnt that if you try to force things into action too early, the result will not be optimal. With the risk sounding like a bad excuse (or "post-rationalization"), I feel (and that's as good as anything, isn't it - to "feel"), that the right time is the right time. With the four principles of Open Space Technology in memory and mind, I can only conclude - it cannot happen other ways it happened, since that is the way it happened.
And will.
No blame, no shame.
Beyond that, I want to add, that the process of creating the Master Thesis was following the same pattern. A version of it (all too pre-mature) was presented at a seminar in August 2005, and was threwn back with force to me as Not Approved. But what the heck, in retrospective, it was a rough draft, and when muddling thru, it came out as Summa Cum Laude in 2007, beyond additional turns of deep sustainopreneurial action (where writing always was second hand in those times). In April. Yes - With Distinction. And led to 1. a conference article that 2. turned into a book chapter and 3. finally placing ground for a neologistic Wikipedia article. Yes!
I am convinced the story will not be different this time either, where I have committed to process innovation beyond the experience of this Master Thesis delivery, in order to shorten the leg in between rough draft and final product, with real-time iterations made possible through the social software platform creation. Inviting everyone interested to the conversation leading to its final result. Peer-review rethought, in a deeper sense. You're invited!
