Blog moved - now on 'DJ Anders - the Virtual Clubbing Experience'

After some years here on my Typepad account, I decided that this blog became redundant, when actually it makes more sense to have all my announcements at the same spot where you actually can have direct contact with your little hive of 'appreciators' :) - the community 'DJ Anders - the Virtual Clubbing Experience'. My contribution to the community blog over there actually makes it perfectly fine to have all announcements on gigs, promo mixes (all from 2008 archived right now - and I will add favourites in the back catalogue from 2003 and onwards, including some set reconstructions from classical gigs :), and comments on new releases and comments on relevant industry-related stuff I feel like adding to the stream.

Enigma - La Puerta Del Cielo / Seven Lives [official music videos]

It is Enigma time again. New album September 19. It seems that Enigma shows up in the most significant of life changes. Yesterday they released their new official music video of the double-A-sided La Puerta Del Cielo / Seven Lives single released the other week. The new album is named Seven Lives Many Faces. Got a newsmail yesterday linked to the video from Yahoo Dot De. Here it is, embedded.

UPDATE: La Puerta Del Cielo means 'The Door to Heaven' in Spanish. And the significant life change this time is moving to a new apartment with my new love, and she will blog from http://sandgatan.wordpress.com about the furnishing process. The Facade is there, and at 3pm CEST we will get the keys. Yes, it feels like it is going to be ...the Door to Heaven.

ADDENDUM: Surfing through at www.enigmamusic.com, I also found Seven Lives premiered in conjunction with the opening of the Olympic Games on 080808 through a link to deutsche Stern. Sounds very E1 and E2 these two tunes, and in fact both videos feature unreleased clips newly edited from old videos. Sound very very very promising for the new album in September!

UPDATE [JULY2008]: Facebook Group, MTV Selected 2nd Time, A Club Concept Created, Promo Mixes, Some Gigs

It has been a while since I blogged here, but now, creating a change!

First out, the blogging has been just a little more frequent on the internal blog over at the DJ Anders community, and I think of keeping it that way, where especially new gigs and tracklists for promo mixes will be posted there with a deeper detail. Blogging here is more likely to be a newsletter format, with sporadic updates. First some history in the snippet format and with some links to the DJ Anders Community at http://djanders.ning.com. And next time I post here, some news of future plans :) !

Facebook Group - now with shortlink

Talking about updates, I am available on Facebook with a group (see sticky blog above), and now it also has its own easy to remember shortlink, http://groups.to/djanders - and you land directly on the Facebook Group "DJ Anders Updates".

MTV Selected - second round

Around the year shift ending December 2007, I participated with some mixes at MTV Selected, with voting making me land in the middle field - they are archived and tracklisted here. You can listen to them through the media player/streamer in the sticky blog post as well above, together with all the other promo mixes.

Club2Club - a club concept created

In May, me, together with Johannes Fredheim and my fellow resident DJ Fred Acler, and partnering with my manager Jimmy Persson for the A&R and booking consultancy through Icon Management & his network, and our first guest DJ's Manuel Le Saux and Cliff Coenraad, manifested the kick-off and première of a new Club Concept, named Club2Club. It was taking place at Black Horn, the venue known for various live concerts and niche club concepts in general, and the date was May 9, 2008. We got quite an extensive media coverage, both in the free entertainment magazine distributed around town called nollelva, and in the local newspaper NT (Norrköpings Tidningar). Our friends at NEMCOM arranged some other stuff the same weekend, and we got a joint coverage announcing their guest DJs DJ Anneli and Calle Dernulf for the weekend. The support was a bit limited, but those who found their way to the première night had a night to remember! Quality trance and grooves, to say the least! Gig back to back with Fred Acler at Diod - The Electonic Party

Since the warmup two-and-a-half hours back2back with Fred Acler went really well, we decided to go for another gig, when we got invited as headliners by NEMCOM at the same day as their première day of PomPom i Parken that took place before the night party Diod. Their resident had mysteriously just disappeared (found later, no worries), so we were asked to take the music from opening the doors - and what a gig it became! Almost five hours with some old tunage classics together with the newest of the new, and a various style blend. The gig was at Sweden's national day, and it was summer hot! June 6, 2008 :). PomPom in the Park - turning to PomPom at the Backyard beyond some showers

July 12, NEMCOM arranged their second outdoor event for the summer, PomPom in the Park - where I played last year as well - and invited Fred Acler and me for another back2back gig, at Folkparken the past weekend. Unfortunately the heavy thundershowers surprised the arrangers, and after some two hours they were forced to move all equipment and the PA to Kulturhuset, a café-like get together spot indoors. Fred Acler decided to stay at home with this move, and I had a solo gig that was very energized closing the day 21-22, and when the sun returned some were dancing at the backyard at the beats and harmonies! UPDATE: Past gigs, and New website now @ Zude!

Yes, I was breaking the silence the other day, and now, here follows an update.

First of all, let me announce the new destination for the static website. It can be found on the Zude platform (a very cool service where you can start with a blank canvas and just add the stuff you want, and mix it up to get your web presence your way - when the web transforms from the "global library" metaphor of 1995 to "everyone's empowerment tool and social life and communication galore" 2007...).

The summer passed, and I was mostly offline, of mainly two reasons. The first was due to the fact I wrapped up some writing and academia stuff (see up and coming post over at "Notes from a Sustainopreneur" blog), the second, following, was that I was getting a new oddjob with dominating field work in a specific market where I for some months did not have access to Internet.

In between, though, two gigs were delivered, and eventually/over time I will get them for you reconstructed, since the sets were not recorded.

Aug 4 saw me invited to www.nemcom.nu event "PomPom i Parken". Nemcom is Norrköping electronic music community. They represent the whole line of electronic music, not just dance, but mostly. In a broader sense, many DJs and producers showcase their music through this cultural not-for-profit doing alot of activities for the advancement of the electronic music.

In the summertime, they arrange a repeated bi-weekly lineup of DJs from 3pm to 10pm, with one hour per DJ, at the "people's park", Folkets Park, in Norrköping - open air. A picknick with some baguette and cheese, a blanket and music all the way. An alternative summer experience :). I got the honour to wrap up Saturday Aug 4, where actually people lifted their asses from their blankets and just started to ...dance! Wonderful spirit, and I had no chance I could stay still as well, so I went out some times to join the peeps at the other side of the booth :). Good way to keep the mosquitos away, too :). Thanks all that joined: Manuel, Johanna, Åsa, Dee, Albin etc. You're great! And thanks, of course, the Nemcom team as well for inviting me! Truly a blast! Hope to repeat the experience next summer :).

Next out, I was invited to Club Aqua, Aug 8, Club Otten, Norrköping, to warm up with some intense progressive-to-tech-trance for a night in the harder beats category - meaning that "warm up" was something beyond the regular warmup set with progressive to the housy swing usually being the case when I warm up. This time I went all the way to heavier high-spirited tech-trance before Albin, the resident took over with some hardstyle/jumpstyle classics before the imported main act HeadHunterz, a hardstyle DJ from the Netherlands.

As a whole: Unforgettable. The dancefloor went bezerk many times, and I just loved it! I think I lost five liters of water, I was sweating like a dog coming from a pool ;). Thanks the Aqua team, and Mr Water Provider of Otten - I really needed it :).

Next time Club Aqua is going live again, they have no more than Mr Tiësto himself on stage, and through the years Aqua has been hosting Signum, Rank 1, Jace, Ultraform etc., so it is an honour to be a part of the Aqua legacy.

As said, I hope to reconstruct these two sets as independent promo mixes in time, in the mean time I share the tracklists.

I thought that was a good way to break the lasting silence dominating this blog, and my others, too. I have in the loop an update what happened in my "DJ life", posted soon.

PuLSating Beats #3 - 2007 | Warm Summer Spirit

So it is time again for another promo mix. This time I got inspired by all the summerish tunes and decided to draw them together to tell a story filled with warmth and alot of summer spirit :). Progressive and meditative, filled with alot of breezing beach tunage :).

And, as also as usual I have made a unique mashup mix to include in the mix, this time of Wamdue Project's "King of My Castle" that got remixed by Sander van Doorn and Marco V's 2006 edit of "Simulated".

Last out: I dedicate this mix to Felix - Fredrik (a k a Fred Acler at my agency www.icon-management.se) and Linda's newborn son - arrived Thu 21, 01.19am, at the moment of writing some 48 hours old!

PuLSating Beats #2 - 2007 | MTV Selected (contribution)

I just wanted to notify you that I have contributed to the Scandinavian DJ Talent Hunt MTV Selected! And it is the day before deadline, ha ha. Better late than never.

Trig.com is virtually hosting it, where I have created a profile there as well.

It is arranged by MTV together with local event promotors in Sweden, Norway and Denmark, and greater parts of the "Swedish House Mafia" in the jury. Semifinals next week in Denmark, Norway and Sweden, with finals in Stockholm, Sweden, June 20 headlined by the "godfather" himself nowadays - Eric Prydz a k a Pryda. First prize - warmup for a selected jury member at some European super-club/event.

Talking of which - with the spirit of the competition focusing the housy summery swing of warmup and progressive, I have his tunage Armed included, mixing with classics and fresh tunes. PuLSating Beats #1 - 2007 | Spring Love Geyser Mix

Hi, all Music and Life Lovers,

It has been a great while since I made a promo mix, in fact I think it is something like over half a year ago. Alot has come in between me and a new mix, but with all things happening (that I will share at my personal blog http://andersabrahamsson.vox.com later, when done I will add the update to this blog), I think the mix shares exactly the feeling I wanted to get into it, and why the feeling is there. Never has Joy of Life been so present in my life, the harmonic and easy joy just resting there as the self-evident.

To summarize: I dedicate this mix to my new-born daughter!

Spring Love Geyser - The blossoming spring, with Hot Water exploding from the ground all through the hard rocks and among the glaciers on Iceland, all in the name of Love!

The mix enters with the meditative deep progressive flow, moves the sliding scale through the melodic and anthemic peak happinness, with an inevitable end in the techier edge of harder beats, still with the melodic spirit kept all to the last beat.

It represents the Yin and Yang of trance - the harmonic Yin with the beat&bass of Yang, without the one there is not the other. A whole!

The mix grasps the soundtrack since last time I shared love in this form, with highlights from 2006 and especially from more recent dates of 2007 this last month. The spirit is grasped by the mashup: A Harmonic Journey! Given the time in between now and then (last time), I ended up with two and a half hours of pure bliss, 150+ minutes :). DJ Anders PuLSating Beats #5 - MondayBar Future Lounge Promo Mix

I contributed through my agency Icon Management with a demo/promo that was hoping to get me included in the "Future Lounge" lineup at one of the coolest dance events on Earth - the Monday Bar Cruise (according to DJ Mag, who listed it among the top 50 in the world). It is a boat filled with world's greatest headliners in the main lineups, and a floor besides the two other for "up and coming" DJ's, or good DJ's that has been around a while but deserves a greater recognition. According to Staffan and Johnny who listened on all promo CD's - without knowing which DJ was which to avoid biases - said that the number exceeding 100 in contributions held a very high class and quality, and it was very hard to pick the final lineup. The competition was too sharp this time to get me included, but anyways - I want to share my set to the world!

It includes an uplifting set with alot of energy, in a way summarizing my favourite tunes of this summer. As seems now to be a tradition, I brought a DJ Anders Mashup also this time (as with the two Tranceport mixes earlier), in the techier trance corner - and of course one of the strongest names to conquer the world Sander van Doorn that I nominated to headline Monday Bar Lucia Cruise in December 14-15 is there represented. And yes, it showed out that they listened to the public demand - and brought him there to the lineup!
